Course Reflection

Overall, I learned four unit in this class. I learned about music, movie, pop star, and pop culture. I believe the topic influenced me thinking the most is unit 4 which is music. I know music has related to pop culture, but I never knew that music contains so much knowledge. I listened to pop music from my own country, and I never learned about music from other countries. I didn't know much about the source of music, so this chapter made me think a lot. I believe that music is a culture that is as plain as nothing, and it is not special before I learn about this unit. After this unit, I know there is so many knowledges include in music that I can learn. I learn so much in this unit, and I feel this is not a boring unit, because I am a person who like to listen music always. This unit is related to my daily life. I learned that there have been so many types of music around us. After I understand this unit, I discover that music can be very powerful. I learn four different units in this class. However, this is the one I am not feel bored for it and I feel a little interesting. I like this class and I hope I can learn more about culture in the future.

      I learn so many about pop culture after watch all the information. Generally speaking, pop culture is relatively speaking with elegant culture. Elegance culture generally includes “classical music, serious novels, poetry, dance, elegant art, and other works that are appreciated by relatively few educated people. Pop culture is a culture that is generally liked and enthusiastically followed, its main function. It is entertainment. According to the above culture and popular discussion, we can also simply define it as a universal lifestyle that many people practice and follow. Culture is something we need to learn until we die. There has four different main types or elements of pop culture. For example, production analysis, textual analysis, audience analysis, and historical analysis. All the pop cultures are not only for amusement, pedagogy too. Pop culture is something that has power to bring the different background people closer. People always have different culture, but people bring each other together with a common topic. I think this is pop culture. Pop culture is always there, and it needs recognition. There has so many things become pop culture. The capitalist society since the 1960s has entered a new era dominated by the production of consumer culture. The characteristics of popular culture in this era. First, pop culture shortens its production and production cycle. Second, pop culture takes more. Third, the pop culture community is focused on the development of modern science and technology, more technical and technical reproduction. Pop culture is not easy to define. It is a K-pop song, and it was released in July 3, 2012. It is very popular, and it is a song has a big story about love. This song has two different parts, and this two parts make a story. A story between two sister in the future with super power.

If I were a boy is a song sang by Beyonce, and it released in October 12, 2008. The song examines the attitude of men towards love from the perspective of women. The song's lyrics is to admonish the boys should love the girls well before losing their loved.

• “Wild child” is my all-time favorite song

This was a song released in 2002, and it is my favorite song. This song is very popular in my country. This song is talking about a girl likes a boy who loves so many girls. Although the boy likes her and wants to get her, she knows that this boy will not like her forever. So she would rather let this boy not get it, because the boy would remember such a special woman because he didn't get it.

It was a little special day, and I saw something that I never saw before. March 16, has been a special day in Chicago, and it has been a special event for Saint Patrick's Day. On this day, the Chicago river dyed green for Saint Patrick's Day. I and some of my classmates hear about this event, and we felt interesting for that. Then, we discussed to go for it. During the day, we went after we finish breakfast and it’s before the noon. We were full of expectations for this event because we never seen that before. However, we had a little bit upset after we arrived because there were so many people. We understood most of the people want to take a look of this river, but too many people were easy to block us to see what we want. On the other hand, we saw the green river, and we said that was a color we never saw it appear in the river. I remembered we want to take some beautiful picture, but there were too many people. We needed to spend a long time to wait for a space to take photo, so we give up. Then, we just took some photo that were not we expect and gone. Overall, we all saw the river, and our curiosity also ends here. I chose this event because I hear this event long time ago, but I never go and see about it. I just saw the picture online before, and I feel curious for how it looks like by using my eyes. For my personal experience I feel this event is not bad, but I will not go next time. It’s not bad, but it does not have something to attract me to go for the second time. I felt a little bit spectacular when I saw the color of the river, but just a little. In my opinion, it is better to go earlier for people who want to go. It is better to earlier than me. I went there during 11a.m., and so many people were already there.

I will like to talk about how St. Patrick's Day has become. A long time ago, St. Patrick wanted to convert Irish people to Catholicism. But local non-Catholic believers attempted to stone St. Patrick to death. St. Patrick is not afraid at all. Then he found a clover and explained the significance of Catholicism to the Irish people with clover. His explanation touched the Irish people. Later, St. Patrick died on March 17, and the Irish made this day a St. Patrick's Day. People in Ireland want to commemorate St. Patrick. The United States celebrated the festival from March 17, 1737. People usually wear green clothes and accessories.

A song that moved me

Many people live with a song in their heart deeply, and I have no exception. The is a song that can always touched me after I graduate from elementary school in Chicago. This song is sing by Bruno Mars called “Today My Life Begins”.  It touched me a lot because this is the theme song of my graduation ceremony. I believe I had a happy time during elementary school, but not high school. This song accompanied me through the last happy moment in elementary school. I hate my high school because I become lonely during high school years. I was very happy in elementary school, and this song has reminded me the memory in elementary school. When I hear this song during my graduation ceremony, I did not feel very sad, but a little bit excited. It’s different for now, and I will feel un happy if I hear this song. I had a terrible life during the high school year, and it was easy to makes me remember the years in elementary school. This song is a thing that can easily bring me memory back to elementary school. There are three parts in the song that touched me. The first one is the word “change” because it reminds me that my life will has a big change after graduate in elementary school. The second one is “today my life begins”. It has reminded me I had a little excited that I became a high school student. It means it’s a new start, and my new life was coming. The last one is “yesterday has come and gone”. It reminded me that my happy time was already gone, and finish. However, that is the feeling and thought I had during graduate, not now. Now, it’s only the bad memory in high school and good memory in elementary school when I hear this song. I can say this is a song that saves my happy memory, and I love this song so much.
